Inspiring Card Ideas

Time is ticking down - there are only a couple more days to get the Stampin' Up! stamp sets that are retiring this year.  But don't panic yet - you still have until the end of the day on Thursday, May 31st.
Smiley from millan.net

With that in mind, I have a bunch of samples to share today.  First off are cards made with Inspired by Nature.
This one was made with pastels - which are also retiring this year.  Our pastels are made in colors that coordinate with Stampin' Up!'s exclusive colors - so get yours before they're gone!

Isn't this elegant?  It's silver embossed on Brushed Silver cardstock - so pretty!

Next up is Autumn Days - another versatile set.

Did you know you could make Christmas and Winter cards with this set?  Well you can!  Check out these two cards:

Another stamp set that is good year 'round is Season of Friendship
 Isn't that little bird adorable?
This stamp set has the bird, a flower, a snowflake, and leaves to put on the tree.

Don't you love this card with the shading?  That's done with sponges and ink pads.

That last card also uses the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set.  So I thought I should show you some samples with that set too because it's also retiring.
These small stamps look good when they are stamped multiple times and in various shades of ink.

So if any of these stamp sets are on your wish list, get them now.  You can't use the excuse that you don't have any ideas!

Until next time...

Retiring Fifth Avenue Floral

I know, you're wondering where I've been, right? I've been around, just not on my computer.   I just wanted to see if you'd miss me...   So did you?
Smiley from millan.net
Well, I missed you!

I have some gorgeous cards to show you today made with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set.  This is one of those stamp sets that makes every card look beautiful.

Isn't this such an elegant wedding card?

Believe it or not, the center flower on this card was colored with markers.  (I didn't do it!)  It's so smooth, it's hard to tell!

I love this technique on this flower.  It makes it look so realistic, don't you think?

The flowers on this card were not only cut out, but they are shaped so they look "poofy" (that's a technical term, you know!).

I case-d this card a few years ago - it's still one of my favorites with the pink, yellow, and orange combination.

The Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on this card really make it a knock-out!

So if this stamp set has been on your wish list, you have until May 31st (THIS Thursday) to get it before it goes away.  As you can see, it's a very versatile stamp set and would be a great addition to any stamper's collection!

Until next time...

Cupcakes, Medallions, and Daisies?

Hi stampers! Glad to be back again to chat with you! I have more card samples showcasing retiring stamp sets. This is actually fun for me to go back through my cards and enjoy seeing them up close again. Sometimes I tend to get the cards made or through swaps, display them for awhile, and then put them in a set sampler and tuck them away.  So I love going through them and choosing which ones to show you.  I just don't have enough time for all of the samples I have!

I adore this stamp set, Crazy for Cupcakes - the images are so cute, it just makes me want to eat them up!  (Like I would need an excuse to want to eat a cupcake!)
Smiley from millan.net
Both of these cards used the same image from the stamp set, but there's also a balloon, a single large cupcake, and a couple more images too!

The next stamp is one of our background stamps called Medallion.  This has been SUCH a popular stamp - and I have seen it used so many ways!  It's really versatile to use in the background of a card or as the main image, like on these samples.
This one was made using the baby wipe technique to get the multi-colored image.

On this card the Medallion was stamp in VersaMark and embossed with clear powder on the colored cardstock.  It just makes it pop!

And this one I found especially clever.  The medallion was stamped once in Cherry Cobbler and once in Always Artichoke.  Both were cut into about 1" squares (or punched) and then attached onto another piece of paper in a grid pattern.  Then that was cut out using the Top Note Bigz Die.  Isn't that a cool effect?  And would you have thought to use the Medallion stamp for a Christmas card?  (I didn't!)

Last I have a couple of samples with the Upsy Daisy stamp set.  I have seen so many beautiful things made using this stamp set.
Actually this first card also uses the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set, which is also retiring.  I'm going to miss working with these...
Smiley from millan.net
This card was made using the "reverse masking" technique.  If you'd like to learn more about how to do that, send me an e-mail and I'll be happy to give you a quick explanation!  It's quite easy and makes a very neat effect!

And before I go, I can't resist showing you what Bella Rose has discovered she can do.  In just the last week, she has finally been able to jump up on the furniture on the back porch (she's been trying for months!) Smiley from millan.net  After that, it didn't take her long to figure out how to get up on the ledge that runs around the three sides of the porch.  This is where I found her the other day:
I think she's part cat - or at least she thinks she is!  She loves to lay in the sunshine - just like our cats.  In fact, if I'm looking for her, the best place to start is wherever there's a patch of sunshine in the house.  She's probably there.
Smiley from millan.net
Isn't she cute?  Not that I'm biased or anything...

 Until next time...

Fond Farewell to Flower Sets

I have more pictures to show you of cards made with some of my favorite stamp sets that are retiring.  You have until May 31st to order any of the stamps or accessories that are retiring this year.

First off today are samples made with the Awash with Flowers two-step stamp set.  If you're like me, I LOVE flower stamp sets and can't seem to get enough!

And these are just a few of the samples I have with this stamp set.

Next is this sweet little stamp set called Three Little Words.  It has six sayings to go with the "Three little words..." stamp, plus the flower image.  Very versatile!

And last today is one of my most favorite flower sets - Greenhouse Garden, another two-step stamp set.  I think it's the detail of the top image that makes each flower look like it's popping off the page at you!

I will miss using these stamp sets in my workshops and classes, but that doesn't mean that I have to stop using them altogether!  If you've been inspired by these samples and don't want to miss out on these great sets, be sure to get yours ordered by the end of the month!

Until next time....
