Gift Pocket Wallet

Happy Fall! The weather is starting to feel like Fall - my favorite season! Hope you're enjoying the change in the weather and all that Fall brings. Smiley from millan.net

This is the other project that I made last week with my friend Judy. It's a "gift pocket wallet". it uses the exclusive Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope die to make the pockets inside. I made mine with the Candy Cane Christmas DSP from the Holiday Mini Catalog (pg. 33).

I took this with me to my workshop on Saturday and I've now got a special workshop/class scheduled to make these. One of the attendees at the workshop wanted to schedule a class to make these. She's providing the place and the guests, and I'll supply everything to make these for a fee. So if you can't come to me for a class, I'll bring the class to you! Contact me for more details.

Besides a gift card, I included a Ghiradelli chocolate and some tea in my sample. You can get instructions on how to make this by going to Pink Buckaroo Designs and viewing this link. She has wonderful step-by-step instructions! I've also seen this with a pad of paper on the left side. Too cute!

Post-It Note holder with pen

I'm still here! Seems like life has been extra busy the past week, but I've still had time for some stamping therapy! Smiley from millan.net My friend Judy S. came over last Friday and we made a couple of 3-D projects that I've been wanting to do for awhile. This one is an adorable Post-It note holder with a coordinating pen. The pen coordinates because it has matching DSP rolled up and inserted in the barrel of the pen. It's hard to see because this pen has a smoky-looking barrel, but it's there!I came across this idea on Sandy Hancock's blog. She has all of the instructions here. This project actually goes fairly quickly and would make an adorable gift for anyone. These were so much fun to make - try one for yourself and send me a picture of what you make! I'd love to see it!

Something for your funny bone

It's been a long day and I'm exhausted, but I thought I would at least share a little "funny" with you. I have this comic up on my wall in my stamp room. Enjoy!

By Popular Demand - another Owl Punch class offered

I have had some requests to hold a class on a Saturday - specifically the two-step owl punch class - so I have scheduled a second owl punch class for Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 AM! Smiley from millan.net

Cost for the class is $25 and includes your very own owl punch to take home with you - plus whatever projects we make. I need to have your RSVP and your payment by October 5th so that I can get the punches ordered in time to arrive here for class.

Here is just one card sample made using the two-step owl punch so you can see how cute it is! I know that you will just love this punch once you start using it - and this class is a great way to get started!

Class size is limited, so don't wait to let me know if you plan to come. I hope to hear from you soon. RSVP to jayne@jaynestamps.com. Happy stamping!

Builder Wheels - more samples

Here are some more items made using the Builder Wheels.

This one uses Candle Crazy, Birthday, and Bees and Blossoms with a single-cell Rose Red ink cartridge. The background is the Sweet & Sour Specialty DSP (one side has images that are glossy - too cool!) and my favorite owl punch!

This card was one I made for a through-the-mail swap. It uses Builder Wheels from the Holiday Mini Catalog - Little Christmas, Little Cardinals, and Little Ornaments (pg. 35). It uses a triple cell cartridge with Early Espresso, Real Red, and Garden Green ink. I got the colors from the Candy Cane Christmas DSP in the Holiday Mini (pg. 33).

And the best sample - CHOCOLATE! This is a large Hershey's bar covered with DSP and then decorated using the Builder Wheels - Candle Crazy, Birthday, and Bees & Blossoms with a triple cell cartridge inked with Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie. The "Birthday" layer was wheeled on a separate piece of cardstock, cut out, and popped up with some dimensionals. It's almost too cute to eat! (Almost!) Smiley from millan.net
So I hope you've been inspired to try out the new Builder Wheels. I think that you'll really like how versatile and fun they are to use!

Builder Wheels - have you tried them yet?

Last week I did a presentation at our group meeting on Stampin' Up!'s new "builder wheels". These are smaller wheels than the "regular" size wheels and you use them with the jumbo handle. There are multiple ways to use these - with a regular single color jumbo cartridge or with a triple cell color cartridge that you ink yourself and you can use 1, 2 or 3 wheels at a time, so you can customize whatever look you want!

This first card was made using an Old Olive jumbo cartridge and three of the builder wheels - You Did It, So Many Stars, and Striped (my personal favorite!). I simply wheeled them across some Very Vanilla cardstock, then added the 1-1/4" Old Olive Striped Grosgrain and some punched stars along with a layer of Old Olive cardstock and the card base of Very Vanilla.
This card uses the exact same wheels, but I used a triple cell cartridge that I had inked with Early Espresso, Blushing Bride, and Garden Green. The ribbon color was changed along with the layers of cardstock to coordinate with the ink colors. Same card and layout, but with the changes, it looks so different.

For the third card, I used two of the wheels, Striped and You Did It side-by-side, in Garden Green on Garden Green cardstock to create the background. Then I used the same wheels, but put a spacer between them so that I had a opening between them when I wheeled them (I used the same cartridge as above, there just wasn't a wheel where the Blushing Bride color was so it didn't show up) and tied some 5/8" Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon in the opening.
Are you seeing the possibilities? The triple cell cartridges come uninked so you can use whatever three colors you want. If you're stumped for what colors would work together, try looking at the colors used in our Designer Series Papers or check out the new Color Coach (pg. 165 IB&C) for some ideas. These wheels are just so much fun! I'll be back tomorrow with more samples using the Builder Wheels!

More card swaps that I forgot - oops

Aaack!!! I owe an apology to Diane Kipp. I forgot to add her card to yesterday's posting of the cards from our Chalk-a-Holics meeting. I had it saved and ready to go, but I just missed it. Smiley from millan.net So here is Diane's beautiful card. The butterfly is spritzed with some of our Smooch Spritz which gives it such a beautiful shimmer!

And I also forgot to show you the card that I swapped! I used the Paisley Prints stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog along with the coordinating Paisley Party wheel. I got this card idea from Wendy at It's All About Stamping. You can see her original post here.
The Paisley Party wheel was wheeled with a VersaMark pad and the large leaf was stamped using the "baby wipe" technique. I just love the colors of fall and these colors look so good together. I used Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, and Soft Suede.
Smiley from millan.net Enjoy!

Card swaps...

I wanted to show you the great cards that were swapped at last week's Chalk-a-holics meeting.

Sara Bolz:
I just love ANY card made with this owl punch! and I love Sara's use of the Spider Web embossing folder.

Emily Mullin:
Emily wanted me to be sure that Vicki from It's a Stamp Thing got credit for this card idea. Isn't it gorgeous?

Dee Brown:
Dee went above and beyond in making her cards. She HAND CUT those very detailed spiders for everyone's cards. They are so realistic-looking that I almost can't stand to touch them. Smiley from millan.netShe also painted the Spider Web embossing folder with the Smooth Pearlized Accent Ink to give it that "spider shimmer". It gives me the shivers!! Smiley from millan.net

Judy Haney:
Besides coloring the image with markers to get the two color combination, Judy used one of the Texturz Plates in the upper right hand corner. It doesn't show up on the picture very well but it adds a nice touch to the card.

More Items to Share...

Here are the other items that Diane brought to our Chalk-a-Holics meeting last week. She's been a creative little beaver! Smiley from millan.net

This picture is made using one of our "Spooky Things" Decor Elements from the Holiday Mini Catalog - pg. 8. Diane put the DE onto a piece of acetate and stamped the background on one of the "Nite Owl" Designer Series Paper (Holiday Mini Catalog - pg. 9) and put that behind. By putting the DE on the acetate, Diane can remove this from the frame and put something else in it for Thanksgiving or other holidays. Very clever!

She re-created the clock from the front of this year's Idea Book & Catalog. It is soooo pretty in real life!
We are going to get together in October and make this Z-fold album. You can see how to make one of these by going here. I'm so excited to be making one of these! If you have any questions about anything that you see on my blog, please let me know. I'd also appreciate any comments or suggestions you have! I know that people are out there, but without any feedback, I don't know if I'm giving you things that are helpful and inspiring to you. Let me know!!! :)

Chalk-a-Holics Meeting

We had a Chalk-a-Holics meeting last Thursday and had so much fun! Webster even made himself quite comfortable during the meeting. Thanks for "loaning" your bag, Sara! Smiley from millan.netThis meeting was a little different than our regular ones. Those of us who went to Convention brought all of our swaps from Convention and then we all looked through the cards and 3-D items at our leisure and took pictures. So much creativity!

We did have a couple of Make-n-Take projects. One of the ladies had a request to learn how to make the pansies from the butterfly punch, so I had a station set up for that. This is the card we created. The original idea/layout came from someone else, but I can't recall where I saw it.

This card idea came from Diane Kipp who said she saw it somewhere on-line too. Diane had made this card at a recent card class she had and was gracious enough to share the details and measurements with me. It's a cute little slide-out type card - and I just love those owls and their goofy eyes!Diane also brought some other things to share that she's been working on lately. I'll post those tomorrow and I'll also post the cards that the other gals made and swapped soon. It's so much fun to get together and share our passion with one another!

Big Shot Video

I was blog surfing the other day and saw this video on the Big Shot. It's hysterical!! This was the winner of the SU Make Your Own Commercial contest and announced and shown at Convention. There were some wonderful videos that were submitted - and we just got to see the top few in each category! I just love the creativity of some people. You can view the video by going here. Enjoy!

Hoot, hoot - How about an Owl Cards Class?

I am having a class highlighting the new Two-Step Owl Punch on Tuesday, September 28th at 6:30 PM at my house. Cost for the class is $25 and includes all supplies - including your very own owl punch to take home! We will be making cards in class and I will give you some tips on how to use this punch. If you are interested in attending class, I MUST have your payment by Friday the 17th so that I can order the punches and have them here in time for class.

Here are just a few of the adorable card samples using the owl punch that I received at Convention. I have seen this punch used not only to make these adorable owls, but also to make flowers, a penguin, a bat, a "monster", plus much more! These cards were made by Anne Power, Lisa Gray, Pamela Lewis-Frisco, and Carla Moosman. The cards we make in class will not necessarily be these cards, but I promise you they will be just as cute!

Class size is limited, so contact me today to let me know if you would like to attend!

Owl Punch and Card - class?

I just LOVE Stampin' Up!s new owl punch! This card layout/design came from my friend Carol Stofer. Isn't it just too cute?
I'm thinking about offering a class featuring the owl punch. You would get the owl punch included with the class fee and then class would feature cards made with the punch. What do you think? If you'd be interested in attending a class like that, let me know by sending me an e-mail at jayne@jaynestamps.com. The class fee would probably be $25. I haven't decided on a date yet, but I'd like to schedule it in September - sometime during the last couple of weeks of the month. I think it would be a lot of fun - there are so many adorable ideas floating about that use the owl punch! You don't want to miss out on this cute accessory!
