Manly Cards

Be sure to get in on the My Paper Pumpkin Deal! Two months for just $10 each!  Sunday is the last day to sign up!
From Millan.Net

Do you find that making "manly cards" is difficult for you?  It doesn't have to be hard.  Sometimes the stamp set makes the difference and sometimes simply the colors you choose can help.  If you use blues, browns, and greens as your basic colors, they tend to lend themselves to a more masculine look.
 From Millan.Net
Of course, a good stamp set can help.  You should check out the Wetlands stamp set in the current catalog.  The main image is a goose (Canada goose maybe?), but there are also images of little birds (I think they are sandpipers?), some grass, and three sets of words.  So versatile!  I have seen so many great cards made with this stamp set.  It's definitely a keeper!
From Millan.Net
Today's card was stamped by Judy DiScipio using the Wetlands stamp set.  She always does such beautiful work and this card is no exception!

I also wanted you to notice how making a small change (such as using a different color of Designer Series Paper) can give the card a whole new look.  Both these colors of Designer Series Paper are from the Sweater Weather DSP in the Holiday Catalog.

So which background is your favorite?  I can't decide - I like them both!

Until next time...
HAPPY STAMPING!

Bright Birthday Cards

Paper Pumpkin Special.  Last Week for offer.
'Nuff said.
 From Millan.Net
I have lots of cards from Convention that I've been meaning to share with you.  Seems like something is always distracting me from getting it done (like having to learn Picasa instead of what I'm used to), but I'm slowly getting things organized like I want them.  (I know - excuses, excuses...)  Maybe I need to take a break and enjoy a tall glass of lemonade or some other fruity concoction.
From Millan.Net
I would say that I send out more birthday cards than anything else.  What about you?  It's always nice to have a stash on hand for when you need a card quickly but don't have time to stamp one right then.  (That's called planning ahead!)  Here are a couple of great cards that would be great to have on hand for any upcoming birthdays on your schedule.
From Millan.Net
This first card was made by my swap buddy Laura Barto.  She used the Bombs Away Birthday photopolymer stamp set.  If you haven't tried Stampin' Up!'s photopolymer stamps yet, you should give them a try.  There are at least six stamp sets available in photopolymer - and they're very inexpensive!
Here are the stamps available in this set:
#13411 Bombs Away Birthday Photopolymer Stamp Set              Price $13.95

From Millan.Net
Here's another bright card I received.  Marily Martinez swapped this card with me.
I love the Polka Dot Parade designer series paper with the Polka Dot embossing folder.  The happy birthday from the Label Love stamp set is just the perfect touch, wouldn't you agree?

Until next time...

LNS FALL 2013 TREASURE HUNT!

If you've been following my blog for any time, you may remember that last year I participated in the Late Night Stampers Treasure Hunt.  Well – it's that time again!!
From Millan.Net
This time it's a little different – because Stampin' Up! now has demonstrators around the world, and we have to follow rules as to how we send out the prize(s) to the winners, each participating country has it's own coordinating demonstrator who will collect all the entries for that country and draw and announce the winner for that country.

In other words – since we have demonstrators participating from Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Australia – each country will have it's own winner!  And, each country will decide if they will have one 'grand prize' , or separate blog prizes.  Fun, fun, fun!!  What it all means to you is lots of chances for FREE PRIZES!!
 From Millan.Net

Here's how the Treasure Hunt works:
-Treasure Hunt runs from August 20th until October 25th.
-All entries must be submitted to a demonstrator in your country by October 25th. (i.e., if you live in Canada, submit your list of clues to a Canadian demo; if you live in Australia, submit your list of clues to an Australian demo, etc.)
-Winners will be drawn and announced on October 28th, 2013 on each participating blog.
-You, dear reader, must visit the participating blogs and collect at least 50 clues!  (Right now there are less than 50 participating blogs, but don't worry – there's more people joining, and the list will be updated.)
-The list of participating blogs for you to visit is belowYes, you will be visiting blogs from all over the world, and collecting clues from all of them!
-As you're visiting each blog, write down the name of the blog (blog address), and the name of the clue on that blog.
-Once you've collected at least 50 clues, email the list to me at jayne@jaynestamps.com and you'll be entered to win!

What will you win?  Well, the prize from the U.S. demos is still to be determined – it will either be a 'grand' prize or separate blog prize draws.  Or, it could be both!!
 From Millan.Net
So here's what to look for on each blog – first, you'll  see this picture – because we demos feel like it's a Treasure when we receive our SU! order box!
Next, you'll look for the Clue – a picture of a Stampin' Up! Product – it can be any product found in any of the current Stampin' Up! catalogs!

Here's my clue.  We have it in lots of colors, sizes, and designs, and it can add a great finishing touch to any project you're making.

Stampin' Up! RIBBON is my clue!

So that's all you need to do!  Look for the 'Treasure Box', then find the clue; write it down and the blog address you found it at, collect at least 50, and then email your list to me at jayne@jaynestamps.com.

Remember, the list of participating blogs will be updated over the next week or so as new members join up, so come back often to visit them all, and collect your clues!

Blue Ribbon Bling

Remember the special on My Paper Pumpkin this month!
 From Millan.Net
I made a variety of cards to swap at Convention.  I started with this one, but after I made about 30 of them, I decided this was a little too complicated to make more.
SUPPLIES (as best I can remember):  From Millan.Net
Blue Ribbon stamp set;  Six-Sided Sampler stamp set (words); Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper; Silver Glimmer Paper; Whisper White card stock; Basic Black, Smoky Slate, and Pool Party card stock and inks; Smoky Slate 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, Stripes Embossing Folder; 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Circle Punches, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch; and Dimensionals.

Until next time...

Special Offer and Embossed Reinker Spread Card

Are you interested in stamping, but don't know where to start?  Are you already stamping, but feel like you need some inspiration?  Paper Pumpkin comes to the rescue!  Through August 31, 2013, new Paper Pumpkin subscribers can use the promo code PUMPKINDEAL to join Paper Pumpkin for only $10 a month for the first two months!* After you receive two months' worth of Paper Pumpkin kits, the price for future kits will go back to the regular price: $19.95. (*Plus tax where applicable; Shipping included.)

To order, go to https://mypaperpumpkin.com/en/ and click on "Subscribe" at the top.  Be sure to put my name in as your demonstrator when prompted.  (I did!)

 From Millan.Net
I have another Embossed Reinker Spread card today.  When the ladies in my downline saw the card I posted HERE, they wanted to learn how to do it.  Last Friday was our monthly Chalk-a-holics meeting and this was the card we did.
This first card was my sample that I made before the meeting.
SUPPLIES:
STAMPS:  Secret Garden, Wetlands
CARD STOCK:  Shimmer White, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
INKS:  Early Espresso and Old Olive ink pads; Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Real Red re-inkers
ACCESSORIES:  Aqua Painter; Apothecary Accents and Secret Garden Framelits; Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder
From Millan.Net From Millan.Net From Millan.Net
The card below is the one I made at the meeting.  While the layout of the card is the same, the flowers look different simply because of the way I colored the flowers.
I wrote out instructions on how to do this cool technique when I posted my previous card.  You can view it at the link above or contact me if you have any questions.

Until next time...

Three Club Projects

I love stamping with my club ladies.  It's so much fun to get together to stamp, laugh, and have a good time.
 From Millan.Net
The first card we made was with the Regarding Dahlias stamp set.  The large dahlia was stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed with white powder.  I found out at Convention that the "Polaroid look" is really hot right now.  For those of you not old enough to know what a Polaroid is, you can Google it.  Ha!
From Millan.Net
I CASEd this card layout from another demonstrator, but I can't remember who it was.  If you recognize it and know who it is (or if it's you), please let me know so I can give you proper credit!
 From Millan.Net
I love this next card.  It involves sponging, which I love!  (Just ask any of my stamping friends and they'll tell you.)
To get this cool effect, you start with plain Whisper White card stock.  Stamp the trees from Serene Silhouettes multiple times in black (I used black StazOn ink.)  Punch a circle from a Post-It Note and place it where you want your moon to be.  Then sponge your colors over the rest of the white card stock.  We used Perfect Plum, Tempting Turquoise, and Elegant Eggplant.
  From Millan.Net
TIP:  Always start with your lightest color first, moving to the darker colors.  And remember you can always go back and add more color, but you can't remove it.  When you're done sponging, remove the circle.  Voila!

This is the same card, but I sponged a little lighter on this one.  See the difference?
 From Millan.Net
The last card was made with the Chalk Talk stamp set.  The background is designer series paper from the Brights Color Collection Stack.  We also used the coordinating Chalk Talk Framelits.
So there you have it - our projects from our last get-together.  We had fun making them.  I hope you've enjoyed seeing them!

Until next time...
HAPPY STAMPING!

I took loads of pictures at Convention to share with all of you.  Unfortunately, my NEW camera was acting up so some of them didn't turn out very well. Sigh.  The camera will be heading off for repairs in the next couple of days.
From Millan.Net

Today's projects came from Connie Heisey's pre-Convention meeting.  She is one of my upline ladies.  She had the notepad, pen, and pin already made up for us, and then we were able to make the cards at the meeting and take them with us.
Of course, there was also chocolate at the meeting for us to snack on.  We wouldn't want to get faint for lack of calories, right?  Ha!
From Millan.Net
Here's a close-up of the notepad.  The top is decorated with cardstock embossed with the Delicate Designs TIEF and cut out with the Large Scallop Edgelit.  The colors are Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, and Crisp Cantaloupe.  I couldn't get the pen to cooperate for the pictured, but it has Connie's group name, PROVERBial Stampers printed on the side.
From Millan.Net
The first card uses the Chalk Talk stamp set, Chalk Talk Dies, Alphabet Press TIEF, and Soho Subway Designer Series Paper.

The second card is so simple but elegant.  It is made with the Gifts of Kindness stamp set, Modern Medley Designer Series Paper, Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim, and Scallop Trim Border Punch.

And the third card is made with the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set; Honeycomb TIEF; Hexagon, Small Oval, and Itty Bitty Shapes Punches, Whisper White 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, and Basic Rhinestones.  (Can't forget the bling!)
From Millan.Net
We had such a good time at Connie's meeting!  It was a great chance to stamp, visit with other demonstrators, and chat a bit with Connie and other members of the PROVERBial Stampers group.

Until next time...
