Thankful Journal

 

In addition to the Holiday Sale going on now, Stampin' Up! will be adding some 24-hour items for Cyber Monday (December 2).  Be sure to check back and see what those items will be!

One of the items in the Holiday Catalog is the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit on page 18.  While this kit has materials to make napkin holders, name banners, table tents, centerpiece wraps, and more, my family wouldn't really appreciate the gesture.  They would also probably think I had "lost it".

So what to do with this kit?  Well, fortunately at Convention last summer we saw an adorable journal made with just the items in the kit.  I used half of the kit to make mine.  (Even the heavy cardboard used to pack the kit was used to make the outside covers for the journal.)  Here is the front:

The black elements are chalkboard and can be written on using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker.

The journal went together fairly quickly since a lot of the items were already cut (leaves, chalkboard elements, etc.) and was fun to make.  I love to find a different use for an item that I have.

Harvest Banner

 Have you seen the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit in the Holiday catalog?  I have been working off and on to complete a "Winter" banner, but I also wanted to make one that I could put up now for Fall and Thanksgiving.

I searched on-line for ideas and inspiration.  I wanted something that wasn't too busy because I didn't want it to compete with my mantel decorations.

So here it is.  What do you think?

I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.  I think I'll be getting some more of the Banner Simply Created Kits so I can make more of these for the other seasons!
