Label Love and Wildflower Meadow

I am heading off for Convention in TWO WEEKS!  Yippee!  All of the conventions that I've attended have been amazing, but I'm sure this one will be over-the-top because it's Stampin' Up!'s 25th Anniversary!!
From Millan.Net From Millan.Net From Millan.Net
But before I can go, I have a LOT of things to get done, so I'd better quit dawdling.

Today's card was created by a member of my downline - Diane Kipp.  It's so bright and cheerful, it makes me smile to just look at it!
This card uses the Label Love stamp set that I showed in my last post, along with the Wildflower Meadow stamp and coordinating Embossing Folder, the Gingham Garden DSP and coordinating Washi Tape, and markers in Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, and Pear Pizzazz (Stampin' Up! makes it so easy to coordinate the colors using their papers, inks, markers, and other accessories).  Diane also used the Ovals Collection Framelits, the Labels Collection Framelits, and the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Don't you just love the results?

Label Love and Soho Subway

Wow - can you believe that June is almost over already?  Where has the year gone?
From Millan.Net

Today I have two cards that are made using the new Label Love stamp set with the coordinating Artisan Label punch and the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper.  I love how different these cards look, even though they use the same basic elements.
This first card was made by Cindy Westerink.  The colors are Crisp Cantaloupe (a new In Color), Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  She also used the Apothecary Accents framelits, Early Espresso 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (that she colored down the center just lightly with the Crisp Cantaloupe), Baker's Twine, and new Very Vintage Designer Buttons.  Gorgeous card, isn't it?

From Millan.Net
This card was one I made (CASE-d from somewhere).  These colors are Summer Starfruit and Early Espresso.  I also used the Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon and a sponge to add some color around the Happy Birthday.

Two cards, one stamp set, and one package of DSP.  And this is just a very small sampling of the variety you can create with this combination.  Give it a try - and let me see what you come up with!

Until next time...

Shadowbox Insert in Black and Browns

Whew!  I am still recovering from our retired stamping supplies sale last week.  That took a lot of work, but it was worth the effort.  My stamping friends and I had a very successful sale and are looking forward to doing another one next year!

This will be a quick post because we've been having thunderstorms off and on all day.  I want to shut my computer down before the next batch comes through.
From Millan.Net
I have another 8x8" shadowbox to show you today.  I made this a couple of months ago, but haven't gotten around to posting it yet.  All of the other ones I've made have been seasonal.  This uses Basic Black, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede.  I love how it looks!
I am planning to offer this as a class in the near future.  What do you think?  Would you like to come and make an insert like this?  I may have to change a few things that have retired, but it would be pretty close to this one.

Oh, and don't forget the sale on greetings - available through June 30!

Okay, we're getting more thunder and lightning.  Must be time to shut things down.

Time for Upscale Swap Cards!

 From Millan.Net
As I am typing this, it's Father's Day evening - but it's never too late to let your dad know how much you love and appreciate him.  My dad is in an assisted care living facility and is slowing down.  It's hard to talk to him on the phone because he can't hear and it's difficult for him to understand, but I still gave him a call to tell him Happy Father's Day.  (And of course, I sent him a hand stamped card!)
From Millan.Net
Once again, I have cards from the very talented ladies who participate in the Upscale Swap Group. I love being able to share these great cards with you.  So let's take a look, shall we?

Field Flowers Sympathy

I frequently get questions from fellow stampers wanting to know what stamp sets would be best for sympathy cards.  Honestly the answer is pretty much any of them.  It's all in the colors you choose and having a good sentiment.
 From Millan.Net
Here is a perfect example using the Field Flowers stamp set.  The first few cards are ones that I've posted before.  You can also see other samples HERE.
As you can see, these are bright and cheerful cards.

But if you need to make a sympathy card, just choosing some more muted colors and adding an appropriate greeting makes a world of difference.
The sentiment I used here is from So Sorry.  This is  very versatile stamp set whenever you need to send an apology, a thinking of you, a times are tough, or sorry for your loss/illness card.
From Millan.Net
So for those times when you need this kind of card, look at what you have, make your colors subdued, and add a sentiment.  The recipient of your card will be touched by your thoughtfulness.

Until next time...

From Millan.Net

I have been meaning to share this card for awhile, but it just kept getting pushed back in the "queue".  A friend came over awhile ago for a stamping day, and she had this idea for using the Paper Doily Sizzlits L Die on a gate fold card.

I happened to have one of the doilies already cut out using Tangerine Tango card stock, so I got working with what would go with that and came up with this card using the International Bazaar DSP from the recently retired catalog.  The other card stock colors used are Whisper White, Pool Party, and Pacific Point (or was it Island Indigo?).  Well, one of those blues anyway.  The ribbon is from Sale-a-Bration.
What do you think? The doily is attached on the outside edges, but the ribbon is threaded through a couple of the openings at the center so the card can be tied closed.

Here's the card slightly opened:
I added some butterflies punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch and the Bitty Butterfly punch, and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits (still one of my favorites), and accented them with Basic Pearls.  I was pleased with the end result.

Until next time...

Graduation Stand Up Card

It's that time of year again - graduations, weddings, just lots of things going on, right?
 From Millan.Net
I recently received this card made by Carla Schultz, which is perfect for any of these occasions.  (Of course, you might have to change the stamp set.  Carla used the Pure Gumption stamp set.)

Here is the card flat for mailing...

But look how cute when you "open" it!  It stands up, making it a stand-out card!
From Millan.Net

- To make this card, start with a piece of Real Red card stock cut 4-1/4" by 11".
- Score at 10", 8-1/4", 7-1/4", 5-1/2", 3-3/4", 2-3/4", and 1".
- Cut a slit on the 5-1/2" fold from 1" to 3-1/4" (this will leave an uncut portion on each side).
- Apply Sticky Strip on the end scored sections (each 1").  Place one strip next to the score line on one end, and one strip on the outside edge on the other side.
- Cut the tag insert (Basic Black) 3" x 5-1/4".  Stamp on Whisper White cardstock (4" x 2-3/4") as desired.
- Insert tag through the middle slit and attach it to one 1" side that has Sticky Strip on it.  Be sure it is centered in the slit and lines up with the bottom (which will be a fold).
- Fold up the other 1" side with Sticky Strip and attach it to the tag.

If you would like more detailed instructions, you can find a great tutorial on SplitcoastStampers HERE.  If that link doesn't work for you, go to Splitcoaststampers, then go to "Tutorials" and search for "Free Standing Pop-Up Card".  There are terrific step-by-step instructions there.
