In honor of Mother's Day tomorrow, I have a project to show you that I made a few years ago. This is a self-standing picture display made from cardboard coasters. My mom passed away five years ago this month and I made this a few months after she had passed away.
I took the plain coasters and covered them with DSP. The edges were sponged to give it a little bit of an aged look. I then punched holes for ribbon to go through to tie the coasters together. I found it works best if you have the DSP on first and the sponging done before you tie on the ribbon. (Learn from my mistakes.)

This is sort of a top view. It actually folds up onto itself so it's easy to "size it" to fit in the space you have available.

I made copies of pictures of my mom through her life and added some embellishments. I kept it fairly simple. Here's a close-up of the first two coasters.

And a close-up of the last two coasters.

The DSP, ribbon, and flowers that I used for this project are all retired, but I think you get the idea. It's a wonderful remembrance for me and I enjoy looking at these pictures and thinking of my mom.
Until next time...
