Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! Smiley from millan.net Schoolcraft is having all of their 4th of July festivities today, so I'm a little discombobulated - what day is it anyway? It doesn't feel like Saturday...

We went to the parade earlier today. This little town has one of the BEST 4th of July parades around. It was almost two hours long! After that we came back home to relax by the pool with family. Jerry cooked chicken and corn on the cob on the grill. Yum! Now everyone has left and we're just getting caught up on a few chores around the house.

This card was CASE-d from Ilina Crouse. She has a great tote and cards tutorial on her blog that you can purchase if you go here.

My card is pretty much the same, although I did change a few things. The stamp set is "July Fourth" from the Summer Mini Catalog (pg.28). Colors are Real Red, Night of Navy, and Whisper White. I used some Real Red 5/8" Satin Ribbon and also added some "bling" with the Square Fire Rhinestone Brads.

The close-up shows the greeting which was colored with markers before stamping on Whisper White CS, punched out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, and then layered on a Scalloped Circle punched from Night of Navy CS. The Paper-Piercing Tool was used to add tiny holes in each scallop. This was added to the card with dimensionals. To attach the rhinestone brad, I actually cut off the "legs" with my Craft & Rubber Scissors and then attached just the head to the circle with a mini glue dot.

So wherever you may be and however you may celebrate, I wish you a safe and happy 4th of July. I'm very thankful to live in a country where we have the freedoms that we do - and I'm especially thankful to those who served and continue to serve to ensure that we continue to enjoy those freedoms. God bless America!
