Creative Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog!  Today I'm participating in a Creative Blog Hop!  I have a project to share with you and also will answer some questions about my creative process.

I was asked to participate in this hop by Debbie Currier.  I met Debbie through the Upscale Swap Group I participate in.  If you look back through previous posts, you'll see many of her cards posted here.  We've also met at various Stampin' Up! Conventions and other events, but most of our interactions have been through the swap group.  That's one of the best things about Stampin' Up! - I have met so many great new friends that I would never have met otherwise.

My project today is a mitten frame.  My downline Sara B came over about a week or so ago, and we each made one of these.  So much fun!
I'm really pleased with how it turned out!  Perfect for those of us who live in cold places like Michigan and other northern states!

Most of the supplies we used are from the recently retired Holiday Catalog (although a few are even older than that).  But we wanted a frame that went with the winter season.
SUPPLIES:
PAPER: All Is Calm Specialty DSP; Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White card stocks; Dazzling Diamonds and Silver Glimmer Paper
INKS:  Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sky
STAMPS:  Make a Mitten (retired)
PUNCHES:  Hearts Border and Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack; Mitten Builder Punch (retired)
BIG SHOT: Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits (retired)
ACCESSORIES: In Color Sequin Assortment; Silver Mini Brads; Frosted Sequins; Painted Blooms Cotton Twine; Glimmer Brads (retired); Punches - Non-SU!

I have another similar frame made when I stamped with my friends Pam E and Judy S.  Pam had already pre-cut/pre-punched all of the supplies for our frames, so we simply had to assemble them.  Now I know what it's like to come to one of my classes!  LOL
Do you have a favorite between the two?  I'm glad I don't have to choose because I like them both!

Now for the questions:

1.  What are you working on now?
I am currently working on projects for one of my clubs (usually two cards and another 3D type of project).  I also am making cards for a through-the-mail swap for the new Occasions Catalog, and am also making cards for the Upscale Swap Group.

2.  How does your work differ from others in your genre?
It's always an amazement to me to see all of the different styles and designs that crafters come up with - many times with the same stamp set!  While I enjoy whimsical things, my stamping style doesn't really reflect that.  I guess I would classify myself as a classic stamper - never too far out of the mainstream.  But I'm always willing to try something new!

3.  Why do you create what you do?
Usually I create when I have an upcoming class or club.  I find that the challenge of coming up with new things for my groups keeps me on my toes.  But I also love to have "stamping days" with my other creative friends and work on more complex projects; like the frame projects above.  I find stamping is great therapy and it always puts me in a good mood!

4.  How does your creative process work?
Creative process?  I have a creative process?  I guess I never thought of it that way.  Before Pinterest and all of the wonderful blogs out there, I would look through Stampin' Up! catalogs and monthly demonstrator magazines for inspiration.  When I first started, I wasn't very good at thinking outside the box.  If I saw a card, I had to copy it exactly.  Then slowly I realized that I could substitute another stamp set and another color of ink and card stock and create something new!  Now when I need something specific, I'll search for projects made with the stamp set I want to use, and either CASE one exactly or be inspired to create my own.  (A lot of times it depends on how much time I have left to get the work done!) LOL

To continue the fun of this blog hop, there will be two new people posting next Monday.  I have some feelers out, but I want to be sure that my nominees are willing before I post their names.  As soon as I have confirmation that they will participate, I will let you know.

Until next time...
 HAPPY STAMPING!
