Creative Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog!  Today I'm participating in a Creative Blog Hop!  I have a project to share with you and also will answer some questions about my creative process.

I was asked to participate in this hop by Debbie Currier.  I met Debbie through the Upscale Swap Group I participate in.  If you look back through previous posts, you'll see many of her cards posted here.  We've also met at various Stampin' Up! Conventions and other events, but most of our interactions have been through the swap group.  That's one of the best things about Stampin' Up! - I have met so many great new friends that I would never have met otherwise.

My project today is a mitten frame.  My downline Sara B came over about a week or so ago, and we each made one of these.  So much fun!
I'm really pleased with how it turned out!  Perfect for those of us who live in cold places like Michigan and other northern states!
From Millan.Net
Most of the supplies we used are from the recently retired Holiday Catalog (although a few are even older than that).  But we wanted a frame that went with the winter season.
SUPPLIES:
PAPER: All Is Calm Specialty DSP; Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White card stocks; Dazzling Diamonds and Silver Glimmer Paper
INKS:  Pear Pizzazz, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, and Soft Sky
STAMPS:  Make a Mitten (retired)
PUNCHES:  Hearts Border and Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack; Mitten Builder Punch (retired)
BIG SHOT: Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits (retired)
ACCESSORIES: In Color Sequin Assortment; Silver Mini Brads; Frosted Sequins; Painted Blooms Cotton Twine; Glimmer Brads (retired); Punches - Non-SU!

I have another similar frame made when I stamped with my friends Pam E and Judy S.  Pam had already pre-cut/pre-punched all of the supplies for our frames, so we simply had to assemble them.  Now I know what it's like to come to one of my classes!  LOL
Do you have a favorite between the two?  I'm glad I don't have to choose because I like them both!
From Millan.Net
Now for the questions:

1.  What are you working on now?
I am currently working on projects for one of my clubs (usually two cards and another 3D type of project).  I also am making cards for a through-the-mail swap for the new Occasions Catalog, and am also making cards for the Upscale Swap Group.

2.  How does your work differ from others in your genre?
It's always an amazement to me to see all of the different styles and designs that crafters come up with - many times with the same stamp set!  While I enjoy whimsical things, my stamping style doesn't really reflect that.  I guess I would classify myself as a classic stamper - never too far out of the mainstream.  But I'm always willing to try something new!

3.  Why do you create what you do?
Usually I create when I have an upcoming class or club.  I find that the challenge of coming up with new things for my groups keeps me on my toes.  But I also love to have "stamping days" with my other creative friends and work on more complex projects; like the frame projects above.  I find stamping is great therapy and it always puts me in a good mood!

4.  How does your creative process work?
Creative process?  I have a creative process?  I guess I never thought of it that way.  Before Pinterest and all of the wonderful blogs out there, I would look through Stampin' Up! catalogs and monthly demonstrator magazines for inspiration.  When I first started, I wasn't very good at thinking outside the box.  If I saw a card, I had to copy it exactly.  Then slowly I realized that I could substitute another stamp set and another color of ink and card stock and create something new!  Now when I need something specific, I'll search for projects made with the stamp set I want to use, and either CASE one exactly or be inspired to create my own.  (A lot of times it depends on how much time I have left to get the work done!) LOL

To continue the fun of this blog hop, there will be two new people posting next Monday.  I have some feelers out, but I want to be sure that my nominees are willing before I post their names.  As soon as I have confirmation that they will participate, I will let you know.

Until next time...

Four Seasons Calendar Class

Are you interested in making a Four Seasons Calendar for 2015?  Here's what it looks like:

My stamp clubs made these, and I have quite a few of the small calendars left over.

I have two options for a class -
One would be next Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30 pm
OR I could have it set up on Saturday, January 17 during my Sale-a-bration Open House.

Cost would be $10 to make the calendars (includes the CD base to display each season).  If you're interested, please contact me via e-mail (listed below).

Sale-a-bration Open House

SALE-A-BRATION OPEN HOUSE - JANUARY 17
It's time for my annual Sale-a-bration open house next Saturday, January 17, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!  Come when you can, leave when you must.

Come on over and beat those winter blues back by spending some time stamping, getting your copy of the new Sale-a-bration Catalog AND the new Occasions Catalog (so many cute things in there!), and seeing some of the new products live and in person!

Let me know if you can make it so I can have enough card stock and supplies prepped and ready.  Bring a friend for even more fun!

If you can't make it to the open house but you'd still like to get the Sale-a-bration and Occasions catalogs, I'll be happy to put copies in the mail to you.  Just let me know!
Until next time...

Another Mini Coffee Cup Holder

As promised, I found the other mini coffee cup holder I'd made and took another picture so I could post it here.
It seems appropriate to post it today because it's COLD and blizzard-y outside!  And my computer sits on a desk right in front of a window, so I'm COLD inside too!
From Millan.Net
I hope you're enjoying some kind of warmth, wherever you are.  I think it's time for a real cup of coffee now!

The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year! (For stampers, anyway!)
 From Millan.Net
Sale-a-bration is here! Fight the winter blues by getting FREE SAB items with every $50 in merchandise you purchase (from any current Stampin' Up! catalog)!  There are stamp sets, ribbons & buttons, two different designer series papers, Project Life by Stampin' Up! items, and even Blendabilities that you can choose for your FREE Sale-a-bration items.  And there's no limit!
From Millan.Net
Plus, the Occasions catalog is live today.  You are definitely going to want to see all of the cute items in there!  I keep thinking that Stampin' Up! can't top their last catalog, but they always seem to!  This catalog has some adorable items for Valentine's Day, Birthdays, a cool new Bow Builder Punch, lots of kits - including a perpetual birthday calendar kit that is too cute, gorgeous designer series paper packs, Chalkboard Paper and Chalk Inks, new framelits, new Blendabilities sets, and so much more!
From Millan.Net
Don't have either catalog yet? Contact me and I'll be happy to get one to you. You don't want to miss out!

Of course, I have a couple of samples to show you.  First is a card made with the Sale-a-bration set Best Day Ever.  A couple of my friends came over the other day and we stamped cards all day.  These were pretty much all CASE-d from somewhere online.
The card below uses the Occasions Catalog set Big on You, Chalkboard Paper and Rose Coral Chalk Ink, and the new White Jute Ribbon.  It also uses Best Year Ever DSP and Best Year Ever Accessory Pack from Sale-a-bration.
And one more thing - it's Tuesday, so that means new Weekly Deals have been posted!
 From Millan.Net
Doesn't it just make you want to start stamping?  I know my hands are itching!  Until next time...

Mini Coffee Cups and Holders

Have you seen samples of those adorable mini coffee cups?  I ordered some of them a while ago, and finally had a chance to play with them when the other ladies in the Chocoholic Chicks group came over.

This first one is the sample that I made before the meeting.  I used the Park Lane Designer Series Paper along with the Chalk Talk stamp set. There might be chocolate in these... I'm not saying for sure.

 From Millan.Net
These are the completed projects from the ladies who were here that night.  After looking more closely at the pictures, I realized that most of these were made with the same products - Confetti Celebration DSP and Chalk Talk stamp set.
From Millan.Net

This is the one that I made on meeting night.
From Millan.Net
Emily M. made this bright and cheerful project.
 From Millan.Net
 This is Diana S's project.
From Millan.Net
This is Beata F's project.  She's the only one who used a different DSP pack that night.  She used the Park Lane DSP.
 From Millan.Net
Isn't the variety great?  I have another one that I made, but I can't locate a picture of it right now.  It's probably on my other computer.  I'll find it - or at least take another picture and post it soon.

Until next time...
