Have you noticed that owls are back in vogue again?
I remember back in the '70s when my mom collected owls (and mushrooms/toadstools too). My daughter adores anything "owl-ish", so for her birthday, I made her a couple of owl-themed things. She also loves the color pink, so my owl creations had to be pink. I made her an owl birthday card and an owl Fancy Favor box (with some goodies inside - and one was a necklace with... can you guess? - an owl!).She adored them both (which made me pleased)! Here she is right after she saw her owl box. (If you look closely you can see - what else? - owls on her top!)
And here she is with both items. I'm pretty sure they will be on display in her apartment for awhile. Pink and bling - what more could you ask for?
Here are pictures of both projects a little closer. I've had the original idea for this owl Fancy Favor box for awhile, but I don't remember who made it. I just adjusted the colors for a pink owl. The box color is Melon Mambo and I used various other pink card stock that we have to make the "feathers" on the front.
Here is her birthday card. I used the same color scheme, but blinged it up (that's a real word, I'm sure!) with some Basic Rhinestones and a heart punched from the Silver Glimmer Paper. I took the narrow end of the Melon Mambo marker and traced around the heart so it would stand out a bit more.
We enjoyed a nice lunch out together at Red Robin (yummy) and went back to her grandma's house for cake. After that, we were all stuffed and needed a nap, but some of us had to get back to work. Wish I could get someone else to do some of my work for me...
Happy birthday, sweet daughter! We love you lots!
