Masculine Cards

Did you remember that Father's Day is THIS Sunday? If you haven't made your card(s) yet, you need to get busy! Smiley from millan.net

Today I have a few cards to share with you that have a masculine feel. I don't know about you, but I find that making "manly cards" doesn't come as easily to me as making soft, feminine cards. Most of the stamps used on these cards are on the current retiring list and are only available for a couple more weeks. I'm going to miss them... Smiley from millan.net

This card was one that I created for my Special Occasions Card Class a couple of weeks ago. The silver background is a peel & stick product that I ran through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder (NOT retiring)! The saying comes from the All Holidays stamp set that IS retiring. It's very similar to the card I showcased during the Big Shot blog hop last Saturday. The Cogs Extra-Large Double Punch IS also retiring and if I were you, I would snatch this up while I could. It makes creating a manly card MUCH easier - even if you don't have much else to work with!
The next card uses the Sense of Time stamp set. Not only can you use this for manly cards, but it has a great vintage feel and can be used on cards and scrapbook pages to help with that old-time feeling. It would be great for vintage scrapbooks!
Do you have any teenage or pre-teen boys? Then this next card should be right up your alley! It uses the Extreme Skateboard stamp. I think teenage boys are even HARDER to make cards for than just manly cards. This stamp is one of five different ones that are "extreme". Well, at least their names are Extreme - Extreme Snowboard, Extreme Guitar, Extreme Skateboard, Extreme Surfboard, and Extreme Dirt Bike. They are on page 88 of the current Idea Book & Catalog. And the price is great - only $8.95 each!
The last card I have today uses the Engraved Greetings stamp set on page 182 of the current IB&C. Because this is in the Simply Sent section under Accessories, I think it's one that could easily be overlooked. I love the bold, graphic design of the Happy B*Day and think it has a definite masculine feel to it. I will be keeping this set in my stash of "word stamps" to use when I need a masculine birthday card. Maybe I'll even punch out some cogs and add them too! Smiley from millan.net
The DSP used on this card is from Elegant Soiree and is also retiring. The colors in this DSP are so calming - Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and Basic Gray. Does that say manly or what? But the cool thing about this paper is it can also be used for elegant occasions. Stampin' Up! always makes their products so versatile - definitely a great investment anytime!

So get busy and get your Father's Day card(s) made, and then be sure to snap up a few of these manly stamps so you'll be prepared for the next time you need to make a "guy card". You'll be glad you prepared ahead of time!

Until next time...
